Job Description
UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor! This role will supervise the daily operational functions of the pharmacy department. Act as a liaison on matters pertaining to pharmacy operations and patient care. Assume supervisory responsibility for department employees engaged in providing pharmacy services to the hospital.
This is a full time position that will work Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays required!
Responsibilities : n \n
- Oversee purchasing and inventory control, ensuring compliance with DEA regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective communication within the department and with hospital staff.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (JCAHO, Pennsylvania Department of Health, FDA, DEA, USP, OSHA).
- Supervise pharmacy personnel to ensure high-quality, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services.
- Assist in recruiting and orienting pharmacy staff, conducting performance appraisals, and addressing personnel issues.
- Stay updated on developments in the field through continuing education and professional engagement.
- Provide training and testing to ensure employee competency and maintain necessary documentation.
- Develop and enforce department policies and procedures.
- Ensure patient safety by managing staffing schedules and adjusting as needed.
- Prepare and monitor capital and operating budgets.
- Coordinate pharmacy scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
- Oversee the packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications, continuously seeking improvements.
