What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audiologist position at UPMC?
Children's Hospital is hiring an Audiologist to work at the main hospital in Lawrenceville.
The Audiologist reports to the Director, or in her absence, to the Senior Audiologist. Conducts clinical hearing tests to assess hearing abilities and assist in diagnosing hearing or neurological disorders. Interprets results, counsels patients on findings, and provides rehabilitative services, including hearing aids and assistive listening technology when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Develop special skills and take on related responsibilities.
- Provide excellent service to patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians, and other departments.
- Ensure test equipment is well-maintained and report issues to the Senior Audiologist, Director, or service contractor.
- Administer routine audiology tests and interpret test results.
- Demonstrate competence in at least five advanced audiologic tests.
- Provide additional hearing aid services.
- Contribute at least two hours annually of instruction to medical students or residents, or ten hours of supervision to residents or audiology students.
- Participate in at least one public hearing screening or similar public relations program per year.
- Select appropriate hearing aids for patients, evaluate their success, and provide counseling on their use.
- Participate in clinical research, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, as requested by the Director.
