We are hiring a part-time Behavioral Health Navigator I to support UPMC Altoona!
The Behavioral Health (BH) Navigator I is responsible for the assessment and navigation of patients and families in collaboration with attending psychiatrists and other staff within the Emergency Department at UPMC Altoona. The BH Navigator I will develop initial treatment plans to facilitate disposition planning and assists with bed placement or disposition planning.
The shifts will rotate between days, evenings, and nights, but will typically include two 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Complete psychiatric evaluations and commitment paperwork.
- Utilize DSMV for provisional diagnoses.
- Understand mental health laws and review inpatient commitments for accuracy.
- Know insurance processes and obtain authorizations.
- Participate in staff meetings and committees.
- Maintain required competencies.
- Use up-to-date technology for patient care and referral planning.
- Handle a high volume of calls efficiently.
- Follow outpatient scheduling and referral documentation guidelines.
- Respond quickly to appointment or admission requests.
- Review and summarize patient information for admissions and triage.
- Present cases verbally to physicians and others.
- Demonstrate triage and assessment skills for medical necessity.
- Provide accurate, timely information to coworkers, physicians, and agencies.
- Access social systems and provide resource-specific information to patients and families.
Salary : $22 - $33
