This small group of 5-6 teachers is looking to add a Developmental Specialist to the team. As the Developmental Specialist you will provide daily instruction to patients, ages 13-18, in Western Psychiatric Hospital’s inpatient units. Your daily activities will include assessing patients, planning their lessons, monitoring their progress, and communicating with their home school. In addition, the Developmental Specialist will communicate with the treatment team on a regular basis regarding each patient's classroom performance and behavior. This team strives to always put the needs of their students first and are looking for a candidate who aims to uphold those same values!
Must be a Certified Special Education Teacher.
Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning
- Write daily lesson plans for each student.
- Submit plans for Monday through Friday by the end of the previous week.
Communication
- Inform school of student's progress, including discharge summaries.
- Regularly communicate with the student's home school.
- Conduct 3-hour instructional sessions daily.
Observation and Reporting
- Observe and record academic progress and patient behavior.
- Present information at weekly treatment team meetings.
- Collect and report detailed school history for educational recommendations.
Meetings and Development
- Attend required meetings and staff development sessions.
- Present educational information as needed.
Salary : $24 - $39
