What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Mammographer position at UPMC?
UPMC offers a $10,000 sign on bonus with a 2-year commitment for new hires.
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.
This position works Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Holiday rotation.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
- Performs duties in alignment with Mammographer Multi-skilled, or Mammography Specialist.
- Monitors supply utilization, ordering and restocking as needed and required.
- Serves as a mentor and leader for others encouraging a Culture of Service Excellence.
- Utilizing system promoted leadership tools, deal with conflict and sensitive situations.
- Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of mammography candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
- Serves as a resource individual and coordinates operational activities in the breast imaging center in conjunction with or in the absence of direct supervision to promote teamwork and achievement of departmental goals.
- Oversees maintenance of equipment, monitoring and evaluating quality control tests ensuring equipment compliance to ACR/FDA/MQSA regulations.
- Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with Mammographers when necessary.
- If required by this department, must demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture; demonstrates proper use of power injectors according to set protocols set by department and/or manufacturer.
- May be required to administer PO, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast media required for the imaging procedure.
