What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Clinician (Casual) - Psych Consult Liasion position at UPMC?
Consult Liaison service is a collegial, academically minded, innovative team consisting of psychiatry and nursing serving as liaisons between medical and mental health. Clinicians advance recovery-oriented, strength-based approaches for positive outcomes in the hospital and with continuity of care when transitioning back to the community. We have team longevity with expertise recognized by multiple publications, service awards, and patient accolades.
Responsibilities:
Education and Training
- Attend 6 educational meetings annually.
- Provide regular staff education.
- Attend 2 unit-based in-services yearly.
Clinical Practice
- Model professional practice.
- Use up-to-date patient care practices.
- Lead therapeutic patient groups.
- Assess clients holistically.
Patient Care Coordination
- Monitor team’s psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial status.
- Coordinate discharge and medical plans.
- Manage daily care for assigned team.
- Facilitate admissions with MD and treatment team.
Communication and Documentation
- Maintain professional communication.
- Act as liaison between disciplines and hospitals.
- Complete timely documentation.
Team Participation
- Participate in interdisciplinary and treatment team meetings.
- Review and develop group programming.
Patient and Family Education
- Provide education on psychiatric treatment and management.
- Educate patients and families on medication and diagnoses.
Salary : $29 - $47
