What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician Assistant position at UPMC?
Supports ophthalmologist and optometrist by preparing patients for eye exams, performing basic vision testing, assisting with minor procedures, and scheduling surgical cases.
- Schedule:
- Monday & Tuesday: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
- Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
- Friday: 7:00 am - 2:30 pm
- No Weekends or Major Holidays
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with their vision needs.
- Obtain patient histories according to department protocol.
- Perform vision tests.
- Operate automated Lensometer and check prescriptions.
- Obtain vital signs according to protocol and dependent upon licensure.
- Instill dilation drops per department protocol.
- Clean and setup rooms between patients.
- Daily room cleaning and re-stocking room supplies and medications.
- Maintain and clean instruments per protocol.
- Clean and maintain equipment.
- Perform basic clinical eye testing.
Salary : $21 - $31
