University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support the Neurosurgery department at UPMC Presbyterian. Join this growing service line of one of the biggest Neurosurgery Departments in the country! This is an inpatient role with three 13-hour shifts from 6:00am-7:00pm. Today, our department is the largest neurosurgical academic provider in the United States, performing more than 12,000 procedures annually.  Our facilities include the most technologically-advanced equipment—modern surgical microscopes, advanced image-guided brain and spine navigational tools, state-of-the-art monitoring techniques—improving patient outcomes by reducing operative complications.  Our patients spend less time in the hospital than almost any neurosurgical center in the world. In some cases, surgery that previously required seven-day in-hospital stays can now be done on an outpatient basis.  Our physicians are leaders in their field, pioneering advancements in brain, spine, neck and peripheral nerve care. Treatment is provided through our centers of excellence, each focusing on a specific disease and treatment technique.

Staff Level: 

The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

Salary : $45 - $69
