Join our fast-paced cardiac and stroke unit @ UPMC Northwest hospital in Seneca, PA , where you will provide essential patient care and assist with a variety of clinical procedures, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients. As a Patient Care Technician, you'll work alongside a dynamic healthcare team, supporting patient activities of daily living (ADLs) and performing key medical tasks under the guidance of registered nurses and physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient procedures, ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning/repositioning), and physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
- Perform core nursing assistant duties including vital signs, blood glucose, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collections, Foley catheter care, and more.
- Demonstrate advanced skills as needed, such as phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressing changes, IV catheter removal, and basic arrhythmia monitoring.
- Report equipment malfunctions and ensure effective communication across departments.
- Provide feedback to RNs, report changes in patient status, and assist with patient education under RN supervision.
- Adhere to safety and quality protocols, including standard precautions and department-based quality initiatives.
- Participate in self-assessment and continuous learning to improve skills and performance
