This full-time position requires working three 12-hour shifts per week, from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, including weekends.
Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Purpose: The Patient & Family Concierge is responsible for providing generalized, compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their stay within the hospital. The core goal of the Concierge is to create and deliver a top-notch experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues. The Concierge will serve in a variety of capacities across the hospital based on ever-changing needs. In the course of the day, the Concierge may assist with patient and visitor destination coordination, environmental services, dietary, patient transport throughout the hospital, and supply/equipment management. Above all, the Concierge will remain focused on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care from first to last impression.
Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and families, provides directions and escort assistance. Disseminates patient information while respecting confidentiality.
- Serves as a reference for visiting hours, directions, package delivery, and hospital policies.
- Issues parking discounts, free passes, and patient scooters. Assists with parking cashier functions and validates patient parking.
- Tracks patient belongings upon admission. Cleans and organizes assigned areas, replenishes supplies, makes beds, and changes linens.
- Inspects and reports maintenance problems. Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders and patient requirements.
- Maintains food safety and quality, adheres to equipment operation procedures. Performs sanitation and delivers meal trays, ensuring proper patient identification.
- Transports patients, equipment, and lab specimens safely and accurately. Inspects and disinfects transportation equipment, records transportation data.
- Orders and organizes unit-specific supplies and equipment. Stocks patient rooms, supply areas, and maintains inventory logs.
- Answers unit phones, responds to call lights, and interacts with patients. Rounds hourly to ensure responsibilities are met, prints and distributes care plans.
- Prompts patient mobility and maintains resources. Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures.
- Follows mandatory reporting procedures for incidents affecting patient care. Exhibits UPMC Values and practices key behaviors in job responsibilities.
- Access to medications is limited to distribution to the nurse.
- Performs in accordance with all other system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary : $17 - $26
