What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Specialist position at UPMC?
We are hiring a part-time Peer Specialist to support our clinical case services.
Peer Specialists are individuals with lived experience who provide non-clinical support as a fully integrated treatment team member and educator for staff. Peer Specialists are role models of recovery values and principles by helping to identify and remove barriers and triggers to treatment for individuals receiving services from inpatient or outpatient programs.
We are a 16-unit residential unit that serves schizophrenic patients. We are working on a project for behavioral activation for negative schizophrenic symptoms. The Peer Specialist will work one on one with patients as well as run groups and will have their own case load of 8. Parking is available on site.
Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support in various settings as directed.
- Accompany and follow up with consumers at community events and meetings.
- Advocate for consumers and recovery goals in meetings.
- Share personal recovery experiences and knowledge of recovery tools.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Help consumers identify and use community resources.
- Monitor and provide feedback on consumer progress.
- Assist with recovery management and goal setting.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation promptly.
- Teach problem-solving and social skills through coaching and role modeling.
Salary : $18 - $29
