UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support our Acute Care and CIRU departments!
This is a full-time,40 hr/wk, dayshift position that will include rotating weekends and holidays.
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will provide physical therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Recommend changes in the treatment plan to the supervising physical therapist based on the patient's condition and response to treatment. Maintain work area in a neat, orderly fashion. Direct therapy volunteers. Perform clerical responsibilities as required by the facility. Transport patients as necessary in a safe, comfortable, courteous, timely, and professional manner via prescribed transport vehicles.
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, staff development, departmental committees and in-service education programs.
- Consistently utilizes and provides appropriate supervision to clinical support staff in accordance with Physical Therapy Practice Act of practicing state.
- Completes necessary charge/statistical information to accurately reflect services documented and rendered to patients
- Competently provides appropriate, comprehensive, and skillful therapeutic interventions based on treatment programs that have been developed by a physical therapist for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of practicing state.
- Competently assists physical therapists in the survey of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
- Maintains written/electronic documentation that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization for all clinical services rendered including documentation of changes in a patient's status, cancellations, and the treatment intervention administered.
- Ensures documentation is cosigned in accordance with the facility-specific guidelines and the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
- Rotates through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
- Appropriately requests and actively provides objective feedback to supervisors regarding department performance and emergency situations.
- Schedules to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization.
- Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in accordance with patient response to treatment and/or change in patient medical status to maximize outcomes.
- Recognizes information that requires alteration in the plan of care and notifies the physical therapist in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in a fashion that reflects current scientific and clinical knowledge to effectively achieve established outcomes/goals.
