The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) and integral member of the care team, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves clinical expertise, independent judgment, and collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes. As a leader, advocate, and partner, the Professional Staff Nurse fosters strong relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers while upholding a commitment to excellence in nursing and community care.
Responsibilities:
- Foster productive relationships with colleagues, patients, and external partners, demonstrating accountability, motivation, and cultural awareness.
- Maintain a healthy work-life balance, model safe work hours, and communicate workplace safety concerns.
- Educate patients, families, students, and new staff using adult learning principles; serve as a mentor or preceptor.
- Develop and implement patient-centered care plans using the nursing process within the Relationship-Based Care framework.
- Apply critical thinking to assess and address patients' clinical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, ensuring seamless coordination and comprehensive documentation.
- Engage in continuous professional development and actively participate in unit-based shared governance and goal setting.
