We are looking to hire a Research Associate to direct day-to-day operations of the Translational Neuropsychiatry Through Neuromodulation (TN2) lab in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh (http://moussawi.pitt.edu). The Research Associate is responsible to direct day-to-day operations of the lab to maximize efficiency and maintain regulatory compliance. Responsibilities will include: Ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health and safety; updating animal protocols, providing training and supervision to other trainees, maintenance of lab reagents, onboarding of new personnel, placing orders for lab supplies and communication with vendors, and maintaining animal colonies. This position calls for a responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual committed to facilitating the research goals of the lab in a friendly yet authoritative manner. Excellent interpersonal skills, good problem-solving skills, and superior organizational skills are highly preferred.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Contact and schedule potential participants from a designated pool of individuals who have agreed to be contacted for research studies.
- Conduct subject searches to locate subjects who are unable to be contacted.
- Explain research protocol and obtain informed consent from participants.
- Conduct on-line and/or library searches as needed by the PI as necessary.
- Perform phone interviews for research project protocol(s) as needed.
- Maintain and update subject information database.
- Conduct interviews with research participants under supervision as needed.
- Manage the lab including running daily lab operations, maintain regulatory compliance, place supply orders, maintain animal colonies, participate in research operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Counseling, Sociology or related research field or current enrollment in a related Bachelor's Degree program with direct experience in a research environment required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
