JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Burbank Early Childhood School Teacher Aide
Reports to: Assistant and Lead Teacher, Director of Burbank Early Childhood School
Employment Status: Classified/Hourly
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Description: Supports the assistant and lead teachers with classroom
Probationary Period: 120 work days
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with groups of young children
- Certified training in child abuse recognition and prevention, communicable disease recognition and management, first aid and CPR
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Basic computer skills and excellent keyboarding skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
- Student management skills
Essential Functions:
- Attend and fully participate in all classroom functions and activities including but not limited to indoor & outdoor exploration, field trips, and other school wide events (such as open houses, field trips, etc.).
- Assist teachers with classroom curricular activities.
- Promote good social relationships between children.
- Ensure safety of students.
- Be familiar with ODE and NAEYC standards, as well as the Burbank curriculum.
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student records.
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and required in-services.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice the Burbank Early Childhood School philosophy.
- Establish and promote successful relationships among children and adults.
- Contribute to a high quality classroom environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Telephone/cellular phone
- Postage machine
- Other office equipment as needed
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Exposure to loud noises
- Repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing
- Interruption of duties by students, visitors, staff and/or telephoning
- Frequently move and position self as necessary to access and operate equipment;
- Frequently move around workspace and travel throughout school building;
- Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and equipment up to a maximum of 25 pounds
- Occasional interaction with unruly students
