What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Assistant - Summer School position at Upper Campus?
Terms of Employment:
- Session I and Session II of Summer School 2025
- Responsible To: Summer School Principal and the Assistant Principal of Student Services
- Session I: June 3 - June 24
- Session II: July 7 - July 25
- Hourly Rate Session I: $16.32 / hr
- Hourly Rate Session II: $16.91 / hr
- Location: Upper Campus
- Daily Schedule: 8:00 am - 12:30 pm; Mon - Fri
- Hours per Day: 4.5 hours per day
- Benefits: Not eligible for benefits or paid leave
Temporary position for Summer School 2025. As such, the Summer School positions are not guaranteed from year-to-year and interested applicants will need to reapply annually.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Illinois Paraprofessional License, Illinois Substitute Teaching License or Illinois Professional Educator License is required.
- 30 college hours is preferred.
- Experience working with persons with special needs is preferred.
- Flexible and adaptable to surroundings and situations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer/technology experience is preferred.
- Must respect the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
- Assist students with academics, behaviors, and/or physical needs.
- Assist teachers/classrooms with student behaviors and academics.
- Assist with classroom clerical tasks and/or data collection as assigned.
- Complete assessments and surveys with students as assigned.
- Assisting with progress monitoring and providing accommodations under the guidance of the classroom teacher. This may include assisting with assessments, taking notes, behavior plans, tracking and documenting daily assignments/academic plans, etc.
- Provide job coaching as assigned.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
