Machine Maintenance Tech II
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance:
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to avoid machine breakdowns. This can include lubricating, cleaning, and adjusting parts to ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Quickly identify and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures in bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
- Installation & Setup:
Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment, ensuring it meets operational standards.
- Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and part replacements, to comply with safety and quality standards.
- Safety Compliance:
Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. This includes adhering to OSHA standards and any specific regulations in the food manufacturing industry.
- Collaboration:
Work with production teams to ensure minimal downtime. Provide guidance to less experienced maintenance technicians (Machine Maintenance Tech I or apprentices).
- Equipment Calibration:
Ensure machines are calibrated to meet production standards and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues:
Quickly and effectively resolve issues to minimize downtime in production.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in mechanical and electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automated control systems.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and come up with timely solutions.
- Experience:
Several years of experience working in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role, preferably in the food production or bakery industry.
- Safety Knowledge:
Knowledge of safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols, hazard identification, and proper handling of food-safe chemicals.
- Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift heavy equipment, work on your feet for long hours, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Education:
A high school diploma is typically required, but a technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance or related fields can be beneficial.
- Computer Skills:
Familiarity with basic computer programs for documentation and troubleshooting.
Tools and Equipment:
- Basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
- Electrical testing tools (multimeters, voltage testers)
- Hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
- Welding and cutting tools
- Basic machine shop tools for fabrication (if needed)
