Job Description: We are seeking a qualified Field Hockey Coach to lead our 8th grade team. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the sport, demonstrate effective coaching technique, leadership, and mentoring skills, and be able to provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high standards. This is a seasonal position with extra pay for extra duty responsibility.
Required Skills and Qualifications: To be considered for this role, you must have prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. You should also have a strong character with a team-oriented spirit and the ability to connect meaningfully with students from diverse backgrounds. Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching field hockey, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning, is required. Additionally, you must be CPR and first aid certified or willing to become certified.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: As a Field Hockey Coach, you will be responsible for leading practices, developing player skills, and promoting good sportsmanship and teamwork. You will also work closely with the Director of Athletics and other school administrators to ensure the success of our athletic programs. Some specific responsibilities include evaluating and assessing player skills, selecting team rosters, maintaining equipment, keeping scorebooks up-to-date, and reporting areas of concern to the Athletic Directors. You will also be expected to communicate regularly with student-athletes and parents, follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, and meals, and write individual comments on each student as scheduled. It is essential that you maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional, ethical principles throughout your tenure.
