What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Services Coordinator position at Upper Darby Township?
Upper Darby Township has an immediate opening for a full-time Community Services Coordinator to act as a liaison to the residents of Upper Darby Township and represent Upper Darby Township Police in community affairs policing issues. The Community Services Coordinator is a civilian employee of the police department. Personnel and work assignments are made wholly at the discretion of the Superintendent of Police or his/her designee, based on the needs of the police department, and the township administration.
Some of the essential duties of Community Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to are:
- Oversee and coordinate with the part time community liaison workers in other Upper Darby Community Policing Centers
- Work closely with police officers, police administration staff and township administration in identifying community issues.
- Represent the Police Department on community task forces and organizations that address the needs and desires of the community and specific target areas. Individual must be able to attend neighborhood and organization meetings, some of the meetings will occur in the evening or on weekends and be able to interact with the Township residents.
- Act as a liaison between the residents of Upper Darby Township, the Police Department, the Mayor, the elected council members, the Township administration and other social service type organizations.
- Coordinates the administration of existing township resources and community needs and desires.
- Keeps Township police officers aware and educated about the non-police resources available in the community. Coordinates with the Police administration on issues related to the department community policing policy.
- Help secure and manage grants for community policing related projects
- Good attendance is an essential duty of this position
