Summary/Objective:
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential Duties
- Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Assists with retiree benefits by communicating, collecting and tracking monthly contributions, ensuring the smooth transition to Medigap at age 65 and insuring that all life insurance beneficiary forms are up-to-date and accurate,
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Reconciles benefits statements.
- Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
- Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
- Assists with recruitment and interview process. Assist the Recruiter with collaboration efforts with department heads to ensure an understanding of skills and competencies required for openings.
- Assist with updates of job descriptions
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Participate in new hire orientation programs
- Implement an employee recognition program that recognizes birthdays and anniversaries of employees.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Participate in projects with the Director of Human Resources
Other duties:
- Perform clerical duties such as photocopies, departmental mail, scan and email documents, file documents into appropriate employee files, assist or prepare correspondence as requested, etc.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
