POSITION : Kitchen Manager

SCHOOL(S) : TFES / JTES

START DATE : February 24, 2025

SALARY : $20.25 per / hr

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To Maintain high standards for the Food Service Program and provide high-quality safe food and service to students in a quick and pleasant manner.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP :

  • The Kitchen Manager reports directly to the Director of Food Services and the Assistant Director of Food Services.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff, parents and students to perform job responsibilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

180 per year; hours worked per day varies according to assignment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

The employee will be required to perform any other position-related duties requested by the Director of Food Service, Superintendent, or designee.

  • Enforce HACCP policy & procedures to ensure food safety compliance at all times.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and participate in preparation and service of food.
  • Inventory control, order food and paper goods daily or weekly as needed.
  • Train new employees. Manage existing employees, including initial stage of discipline and payroll hours
  • Develop and evaluate staff.
  • Maintain accurate records including production, sales.
  • Accurately collect and deposit all monies from sales.
  • Report all accidents and needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Keep kitchen and equipment sanitation at high standards. Responsible for operating a kitchen within local, state and federal regulations.
  • Master the P.O.S and department computer and technology systems
  • Fully utilize district technology to maintain an efficient and consistent communication and workflow

  • QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and / or ability necessary.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with quantity food preparation and service.
  • Current SERV-SAFE certificate required.
  • Knowledge of food production and customer service.
  • Self-starter and able to work as a team member with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and public relations skills.
  • Neat and clean appearance.
  • Current Act 34, Act 151, FBI & Act 126 clearances.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • The person, while performing in this position, will be required to :
  • Remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Move about work area with ease
  • Position self accurately and safely
  • Have the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and or move up to 50 pounds
  • Have specific vision abilities including close, color and adjust focus.
  • Handle hot and sharp objects
  • Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Have ability to communicate and converse with employees and students
  • Be exposed to cafeteria / kitchen environmental conditions with severe temperature changes and moderate to loud noise levels.
  • LIFTING REQUIREMENTS : Indicate what statement best describes the usual lifting activity.

    Sedentary Lifting up to 10 lbs. maximum and carrying small items.

    Light Lifting up to 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting of objects up to 10 lbs.

    X Medium Lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum and carrying object up to 25 lbs.

    Heavy Lifting up to 100 lbs. and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
