Position Summary
Under the general supervision of, and in collaboration with the AVP of Distance Education Recruitment, this position is responsible for recruitment in and around the Cedar Rapids market as well as partnership development across the state of Iowa.
Position Responsibilities
Resource Management
- Ensure that University policies are followed by having a thorough knowledge of all staff functions, location administrative functions and policy manuals.
- Coordinate oversight of all aspects of the center’s marketing and communications efforts in collaboration with the AVP Distance Education Recruitment and Office of Communication and Marketing.
- Coordinate student accounts using guidelines set by the University Business Office.
- Evaluate regularly and assure follow-up as required on accounts receivable reports to ensure that students do not re-enroll with an unacceptable balance due.
- Coordinate the center with an entrepreneurial spirit; prepare budget proposals and monitor expenses to maximize direct margin contributions.
- Accurately project enrollment and new student numbers.
Enrollment Services
- Provide a range of enrollment services including admissions, advising, financial aid assistance (including grants, loans, Veterans benefits, tuition assistance, etc.) and appropriate tracking via Jenzabar and JRM for both walk-in, prospective, and currently enrolled student at the Cedar Rapids location.
- Follow up by mail, email, text messaging, or telephone all inquiries from prospective learners; correspond with learners after receiving application, transcript and financial aid information.
- Meet with and advise prospective learners virtually or in person.
- Assist learners with scheduling of initial classes; inform learners how previously earned college credits or ACE Military Credits can apply towards their program at UIU.
- Follow enrollment management guidelines from inquiry stage through enrollment, working to achieve appropriate class size goals.
- Provide University wide recruitment support.
University Partnership Development
- Create and maintain relationships with local and regional business, organizations, school districts, workforce development and UIU partner schools to grow enrollment funnels for the university.
- Build and maintain relationships with key contacts within the community and develop partnerships to benefit both parties.
- Attend events to promote programs at college fairs, job fairs, tradeshows, through informational meetings with prospective learners, through social media platforms, through participation in community groups as well as by speaking to groups and organizations.
- Hold virtual and in person events with current and potential partners.
- Organize, track, and communicate outreach and visits by using UIU’s CRM and other software.
- Develop new Corporate Advantage Program partnerships and assist with the maintenance and communication to current partners in the state of Iowa.
Customer Service
- Ensures a culture of superior customer service through example and encouragement.
- Maintains superior customer service as a competitive advantage.
- Professionally represents Upper Iowa University to internal and external customers, including students, prospective students, companies, organizations, faculty, and UIU centers and locations.
- Provides prompt responses to email, text messages, voice, and other mail to ensure timely follow up and outstanding service to all customers.
- Establish and monitor a system of oversight of customer service, initiating corrective action as appropriate.
Collaboration
- Willingly comply with requests and directives from University supervisors and officials.
- Provide appropriate communication and reports to campus offices routinely and upon special request from University officials.
- Reflect a positive, collegial attitude when representing the UIU as a whole to the general public, strategic partners, the Total Military Family, campus offices, faculty, students and staff.
- Collaborate with the AVP of Distance Education Recruitment to ensure all center functions are being conducted and goals are being attained.
- Serve on University committees and working groups as appropriate.
- Adhere to all University policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Outstanding people skills, self-motivated, attention to detail and strong communication skills required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working with an enterprise system such as Jenzabar or Salesforce powered systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
- Ability to travel as required.
