GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services or Designee, the Counselor will combine leadership, advocacy, and collaboration. School counselors will draw on their skills to implement a preventative, proactive school counseling program using the current American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs to serve as a student advocate and systems change agent. Counselors will promote student success through the implementation of this comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social needs of students. Counselors will assist students in understanding and developing their full potential and meet the demands of school expectations through various counseling services, including acting as a liaison between students, parents, staff, and community agencies. Assists students with career development and provides information regarding post-secondary options. Assists in the establishment and maintenance of good community-school public relations. Provides counseling sessions to individuals and groups experiencing social-emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.
