The Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Mental Health (Therapist) to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients.
For over 45 forty-five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out-patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds.
Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center is a Certified National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title of Position : Mental Health (Therapist)
Description of Duties :
- Participate in implementation of the agency's Project LAUNCH grant to enhance and expand our clinical response to early childhood mental health and developmental issues, including by providing dyadic and group therapy services to participants, and as appropriate outreach to families, partner or other stakeholder organizations and participation in internal grant activities such as data collection.
- Utilize a relationship-based model to coordinate and deliver regular onsite consultative services to partner community programs, providing guidance to professionals and caregivers to effectively understand and support children's positive behavior and development.
- Promote high quality interactions and relationships with caregivers and community members who interact with young children.
- Create a shared understanding of the effects of trauma and adversity, including oppression, prejudice, discrimination, racism, and gender inequity on the developing brain.
- Support the mental health and well-being of adults who care for infants and young children.
- Connect and refer infants, families, and providers to programs, resources, and supports.
- Build relationships with other early childhood serving systems within a community.
- Assist with facilitating an evidence-based parenting curriculum, such as Circle of Security.
- Provide training and consultation about early child mental health needs and resources to staff of partner organizations.
Qualifications :
Skills : Bilingual in Spanish / English Amount of Travel : 70% traveling to partner sites; combination on-site and remote.
Salary range : $80,000
Hours per day or week : 1FTE; 40 hours.
