Job description:
- We are seeking a Student Programs Administrator for the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Upper Peninsula Region Campus located in Marquette, MI. This is a student affairs position responsible for administering the academic and administrative support services for medical students during their clinical years of medical school. In addition, this is a management position responsible for the oversight of UP Campus administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising and counseling medical students with regard to curriculum, career development, residency, and other areas in order to help ensure the success of the students.
- Assisting with budget development, forecasting and monitoring of funds.
- Monitoring contracts and agreements for outside clinical rotation sites.
- Managing administrative staff.
- Providing oversight of the appointment of clinical faculty.
- Coordinating and overseeing a variety of student activities in the community, including the scheduling of students in required and elective clerkships at area hospitals and ambulatory facilities.
- Serving as a liaison to, and builds relationships between the College of Human Medicine, hospitals, residency programs and undergraduate pre-med programs.
- Overseeing proper onboarding of students at clinical sites.
- Presenting career planning and other topics to medical students.
- Promoting MSU CHM UP Campus and interviews potential medical students.
- Work closely with and attend meetings as part of the community campus system of MSU CHM.
- Providing orientation to incoming medical students.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to learn and be proficient in multiple computer programs.
Position Qualification Statement
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, education, health education, educational administration, communications, advising, and/or related fields. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience demonstrating a strong foundation in the responsibilities of the role will be accepted.
- At least five years of experience in administration, preferably in the health professions area.
