Position Summary:
We seek a highly skilled, dynamic, and versatile Upper School English and Communications Teacher passionate about integrating Biblical principles into their curriculum and instructional practices. As a vital part of our academic team, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in both English and communication arts, with the ability to engage students across a range of skill levels—from foundational learners to high-achieving students in grades 9 through 12.
The successful candidate will bring academic expertise and a heartfelt commitment to integrating a Biblical worldview in all aspects of teaching. We believe that English is not separate from faith but rather a way to understand and appreciate the order and design of God's work. Incorporating Biblical truths with mathematical inquiry will be essential in fostering an environment where students develop a strong understanding of English and communication concepts and grow in their faith and character.
We seek a candidate who will fulfill the mission of Legacy Christian Academy by inspiring the next generation of leaders through the authentic integration of Christian faith and learning.
Education/Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in English or a closely related field; candidates with a Master's degree in English-related fields and Texas teaching certification are preferred.
- Illustrate a proven track record of success as a high school English teacher, with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and emphasizing notable achievements in student outcomes.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of high school literature, grammar, and writing curriculum, along with the ability to teach public speaking, rhetoric, media literacy, journalism, or other communication-related disciplines, showcasing extensive expertise in the subject matter.
- Weave a Biblical worldview throughout the curriculum, helping students deepen their understanding of the connection between faith and literature while exploring principles that reflect God’s order, beauty, creativity, and design. Cultivate a commitment to ethical and persuasive communication rooted in Biblical truth.
- Exhibit outstanding proficiency in both written and verbal communication, exhibiting strong interpersonal skills that foster effective collaboration with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Promote a steadfast dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages critical thinking, effective communication, active participation, and an authentic enthusiasm for literacy, composition, and public speaking.
- Possess a strong ability to collaborate on lesson planning, curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment methods with the Upper School English team, the Director of our Professional Schools program, and fellow faculty.
- Express an authentic enthusiasm for continuous professional development and a dedicated commitment to personal and pedagogical growth.
