Position Details
Charlotte Country Day School seeks an Upper School Spanish Teacher to be responsible for collaboratively designing curriculum, teaching Spanish, and creating a dynamic learning environment for students. We are interested in candidates who are excited to work with and support high-school aged students, have experience with multi-level and differentiated instruction, and demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning.
Essential Responsibilities include:
- Teaching a course load of four sections of Spanish (various levels) in the Upper School
- Collaborating with teachers and colleagues in the development, evaluation, and revision of Upper School language curriculum, materials, and programs
- Attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and faculty training workshops to maintain and improve professional practice
- Serving as an advisor to a cohort of Upper School students
- Being a leader in the school’s co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside of the classroom through coaching, club advising, etc.
- Other duties as assigned, including attending regular faculty meetings, professional learning days, and additional student-related supervision responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate work in Spanish, Education, or a related subject area
- Teaching Experience
- Significant experience teaching Spanish, preferably to high-school students
- Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate (AP/IB) experience is a plus
- Communication Skills
- Spanish Language Proficiency – Advanced-Mid/High (ACTFL), B2/C1 (CEFR)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Instructional Technology
- Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practice
