Anticipated Position: Anticipated 1.0 Science Teacher

Anticipated Dates of Assignment: Available March through LDTR 

Summary:

To facilitate students learning the designated subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women; motivate and establish effective rapport with students; establish good relationships with parents and colleagues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach district-approved curriculum.
• Plan a program of study and develop lesson plans and instructional material that is developmentally appropriate, as well as meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques.
• Evaluate students' academic and social growth, seeking the assistance of district specialist, as required.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, school counselors and administrators regarding student issues.
• Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs.
• Follow district policy, guidelines, regulations and procedures, as well as, maintain confidentiality according to law and policy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and valid secondary teaching certificate in identified content area.
• Strong background in secondary science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science).
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
• Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
• Effective oral and written communication.

Required Certification and Documentation to be Submitted by Applicant:

• PA teaching certificate: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science 7-12.
• Praxis results
• Official Transcripts
• And other documents as directed by the school district
