General Job Description:
The instructor will be responsible for the Family and Consumer Science program at Russia High School. The instructor will be responsible for planning and presenting relevant and rigorous classroom and laboratory instruction for Family & Consumer Sciences as identified in the Ohio FCS Content Standards. The teacher is responsible for the safety and welfare of the students and for leadership of the FCCLA organization.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Instruct classroom and laboratory classes according to state Family and Consumer Science content standards.
Design and implement real-world applications for Family and Consumer Science students.
Ensure that a safe learning environment exists for all students.
Coordinate educational events and activities with teachers and staff within the Russia School District.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must hold or qualify for a valid Ohio Professional Teaching License.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a Family and Consumer Sciences department with emphasis on meeting the diverse needs of the students and continuous growth of the program.
Be a strong leader and actively involved in community activities within the Russia Local School District pertaining to Family and Consumer Science programming.
Excellent writing, grammar and punctuation skills are recommended.
Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.
Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.
Salary:
Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $48,678.00 ( Class II, Step 0) to $80,934.00 (Class V, Step 10). Base contract is 187 Days. Minimum workday is 7 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

Performance Evaluation:
Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
