Upper Valley Services (UVS) is one of Vermont’s designated non-profit agencies serving people with developmental disabilities and adults who are eligible for Adult Family Care.
We are seeking a Facilities Technician for 40 hours per week.
- A $500 hiring bonus will be offered to the selected candidate 6 months from the time of hire and another $500 bonus after successfully completing 1 year in the position.
The Facilities Technician is a key team member in assisting the Facilities Director in assuring safe facilities and grounds, shared living homes, and agency owned vehicles in accordance with state regulations. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; completing work orders and repairs, overseeing the upkeep of agency fleet, properties, equipment, determining and scheduling repairs and renovation projects, as well as assuring ongoing facility safety inspections and adherence to ADA and OSHA standards.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma with 3-5 years’ experience with general building maintenance, carpentry/repairs, and minor plumbing with experience in a business setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of facilities operations, systems, and maintenance responsibilities.
- Proficient knowledge of building components, HVAC systems operation, and electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools and equipment used for carpentry, repairs, and routine maintenance work.
- Computer competency including typing and experience with Microsoft Suite, and electronic database(s)
- Writing, organizational, and time management skills and the ability to be multi-tasked and comfortable working under pressure, self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively to prioritize and perform daily routines and other tasks that arise during the workday.
- Training and knowledge of OSHA and VOSHA rules related to facilities maintenance including chemical hygiene, general workplace safety, use of power equipment, ladder, lifting, and fire prevention and safety and others that affect the safety of UVS staff, individuals, and visitors.
