On Call Responder
Direct Support-Randolph, Vermont
$500 sign on bonus and another $ 500 bonus at your 6-month review.
Upper Valley Services is a Vermont designated non-profit agency serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking an On-Call, in person, emergency responder to assist with de-escalation techniques and safety efforts when the individual elopes. The position is mobile serving the Randolph area. More than one responder may be hired to fill the position.
Essential Functions:
- Provide personalized crisis de-escalation and stabilization supports as outlined in the individual’s support plan to ensure the individual’s safety and well-being.
- Ability to respond in-person to Randolph home/location within 20 minutes of receiving a call.
- In-person response includes the ability to follow the individual on foot, walking long distances across varied terrain and weather conditions, or following the individual in your car.
- Transport individual in personal vehicle when needed.
- Address individual’s needs in a personalized manner.
- Collaboration and coordination with the individual’s team and emergency services when needed.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum high school education.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; experience supporting individuals with complex co-occurring behavioral health needs a plus.
- Experience with crisis intervention and skilled in de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team and follow a person-centered support plan.
- Ability and experience to respond to stressful, emergent situations.
- Ability to understand the need for the individual’s confidentiality.
- A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and insurance.
- Physically capable of walking long distances over varied terrain and varied weather conditions.
Structure:
- On-call evenings, 4 pm-12 am including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. More than one responder may be hired to fill the position.
- $100 per shift and $25.00 per hour for in-person response.
