JOB SUMMARY:
Upper West Side Endoscopy is seeking a Surgical Scheduler. The surgical scheduler will schedule general and local procedures utilizing requests from surgeons and/or their office personnel, according to established Center policies. Performs a variety of clerical and record-keeping tasks related to the Center’s patient scheduling and pre-operative testing. Provides statistical data to the management team as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for daily interaction and ongoing communication with Member Physician Office Schedulers and Administrators as necessary.
- Develops and maintains strong positive working relationships with Member Physician Schedulers.
- Responsible for adhering to all scheduling policies and processes set forth by the Administrator/Management Company.
- Manages the receipt, hand–delivered or electronic, of all patient booking information.
- Verifies the completeness of all patient bookings.
- Responsible for coordinating the receipt of all incomplete patient bookings.
- Confirms, daily, the schedule with all Member Physician Offices.
- Communicates to the Charge Nurse any and all scheduling changes/conflicts that may impact day-to-day operations.
- Verifies all Center insurance benefits and coverage limitations.
- Obtains and confirms all pre-authorizations provided by Member Physician Offices.
- Manages the transfer of all pertinent patient related data into the system.
- Ensures the accuracy of all data entry into the system.
- Coordinate the transfer of all patient information for chart-making purposes with the Center Receptionist.
- Provides explanation of insurance benefits, co-payments and/or deductibles to patients.
- Provides explanation of self-pay accounts, as applicable, to patients.
- Provides a back-up role for Center Receptionist functions.
- Participates in other assigned duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work requires constant technical attention to accuracy and detail for extended periods of time.
- Minimal to moderate physical effort is required.
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year experience as scheduler, medical receptionist or insurance coordinator, preferably in an Ambulatory Surgery setting.
- Computer records system experience.
- Must have advanced clerical training, which includes typing, basic filing skills and fundamental understanding of office procedures.
- Ability to set priorities for completion of daily work schedule.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedural nomenclature.
- Knowledge of all Local, State and Federal (HIPPA) confidentiality requirements regarding protected health information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent phone etiquette.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

- Manual dexterity and keyboard skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour
