What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager position at Uppercrust?

Thank you for considering joining Uppercrust in such a consequential role as Petit Uppercrust Service Manager. While we are known for our croissants, breads, and pastries, what distinguishes our Petit location is how we serve guests.
Our Petit Uppercrust location in Haile has an outside patio and indoor seating, which gives us more opportunities to connect with and serve our guests. We have cute cups and plates, and our environment invites guests to linger. We pour considerable energy and personal feeling into the opportunity we have to brighten our guests' days.
You are responsible for maintaining and improving our service standards for our Haile location. This is a small location, and most of your time (4 days/week), the Petit Service Manager is expected to fill a regular service shift and complete that shift's task list, in addition to guide the team.
The role does include administrative tasks (these are scheduled with protected time, 1 weekday per week of your choosing). They are listed below:
- Creating the schedule and finding coverage
- Updating the point of sale system for new menus and special items
- Written communication with the team via GroupMe and email
- Ordering paper, retail, and coffee products
- Personnel decisions
- Holding service team meetings and joining manager meetings
It is worth re-stating: the majority of your time will be spent working shoulder-to-shoulder with those on your service team. In this way, you are personally involved in helping us meet our organizational, cleanliness and time standards, as well as make informed decisions about how to improve service operationally.
Previous management experience in hospitality or guest service is required. Coffee experience is highly recommended, and not required. Baking experience is a plus, and not required. We expect to train the right candidate for three weeks. Barista work, a kitchen crash course, and steps of service for every day part at Petit are included in this training.
