What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Center Swim Instructor position at Upson Regional Medical Center?
Responsibilities
1. Instructs individuals or groups on proper swimming techniques and pool safety.
2. Adapt the teaching style to the age, experience and ability of the participant.
3. Oversees, implements and follows emergency plans, including evacuation routes from the pool area.
4. Dresses appropriately at all times, e.g. wears standard, conservative bathing attire, and is able to enter the water at any time to render assistance.
5. Maintains records and reports for each class and/or participant; must properly complete and file records of activity for commission compensation.
6. Makes sure the deck is kept free of debris, hazards and puddles and all equipment is properly stored.
7. Reports specific circumstances or situations of concern to his/her supervisor.
8. Communicate with participants to ensure they are aware of their progress.
9. Greets members and guests in a friendly manner.
10. Participate in regular in-service training and staff meetings.
11. Completes his/her shift duties in accordance with the Club policy.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
Minimum 1 year of lifeguard experience and swim instruction is preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
Lifeguard Certification (must be approved by HPA VP) or Fundamentals of YMCA Swim Lessons training or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
CPR Certification and recent AED training are mandatory.
