What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Investigator - Michigan position at Upstairs Investigations, LLC?
Upstairs Investigations, LLC is expanding our investigative division. We currently have career opportunities for self-determined and motivated individuals who would like to join our team of professionals in our efforts to deter and combat insurance fraud throughout the entire state of Michigan. We are looking for a full-time employee for our rapidly growing Investigative Unit. Training will be conducted in person some of the time and via Zoom other times. The remainder of work will be conducted remotely throughout the state of Michigan, based on the case requests/locations.
The primary responsibilities this position includes, but is not limited to: court and law enforcement contacts, residential contacts, collecting field statements, spot check investigations, accident statements, neighborhood canvasses, insurance canvasses, process services, and completing reports on any investigation conducted. Investigators will be required to record all findings into a clear and concise summary and report, obtain evidence, testify as needed at trials, and work independently with minimal supervision. The investigator will have their own caseload, and work it from start to finish, including updating clients at times. The amount of time in the field vs at one's desk fluctuates with case demand - one week may require 70% field work, and the next may require 30%.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate the ability to analyze information, develop logical questions, and accurately report findings in a specified format
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Possess a valid driver’s license
Own a reliable vehicle
Be willing to travel as needed for assignments, including possible assignments outside of one's geographical area
Up to three years of adjuster/PIP claims experience is preferred, but not required. Any kind of background order understanding of Order of Priority Cases is preferred.

Compensation:
Upstairs Investigations employees are paid on a weekly basis. Investigators are paid an hourly wage, based on experience, with overtime available paid at time and a half for anything over 40 hours/week, once fully trained, and when available.
