What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Upstate Caring Partners?
Pay $25.00 - $35.50 an hour
We are hiring a Staff Accountant to join our growing team! This position will be responsible for month-end close process, preparation of all monthly agency transactions, monthly revenue reconciliation and reasonableness testing, balance sheet reconciliation reviews, CFR and AHCF cost reporting.
Core Responsibilities
- Participate in the month-end close process.
- Prepare monthly intercompany transactions in accordance with various written contracts.
- Prepare journal entries with sufficient to substantiate the transaction.
- Analyze, reconcile, and test revenue accounts based on documented rate sheets from various funding agencies.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Complete seasonal and other projects as assigned by the Controller, including but not limited to:
- CFR preparation and review;
- AHCF Cost reporting;
- General Ledger maintenance;
- Process streamlining; and,
- Software implementations.
- Participate in the timely completion of all annual regulatory cost reports including but not limited to the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR), Department of Health (DOH) cost reports, and IRS 990 reporting.
- Provide financial analysis on assigned agency programs.
- Analyze monthly program budgets and research material variances.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and Agency regulations and operating standards.
- Participate in financial audits by independent auditors and external government agencies.
Required Abilities
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex information in and understandable manner.
- Ability analyze and summarize large amounts of data quickly and accurately.
- Interpret regulations and prepare work in accordance.
- Strong technical accounting background and knowledge of GAAP and SED, OPWDD, DOH, and OMH cost manuals.
- Able to manage time independently, adhering to all deadlines including unexpected demands for information and/or additional assignments.
- Professionalism in all decision making and use of good judgment based on regulatory and quality standards.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Exercise tact, discretion and judgment in working with a variety of people.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
- Must be self-directed and motivated.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- One year experience in accounting.
- Proficiency in computer programs.
- Travel is required. Must have valid NYS Driver’s License.
