What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapy Aide position at Upstate Caring Partners?
The Therapy Aide works under the direction of the therapists, assists them in carrying out therapeutic activities and groups, maintains the physical environment of the therapy department, completes some clerical duties as assigned by Director of Therapeutic Services or her designee.
Core Responsibilities
- Accompanies students to their therapy session, as directed by therapist.
- Assists therapist in carrying out therapeutic activities and groups with students.
- Maintains the therapy work environment, keeping it organized and clean.
- Perform clerical tasks (copying, laminating, filing) as requested by therapists.
- Other duties as specified by Director, Therapeutic Services.
- Must be able to complete and maintain SCIP-R, First Aid, CPR certification and or other trainings required by OPWDD, and/or Agency policy.
- Promote independence by implementing the Individual Program Plan (IPP) and/or the Individualize Protective Oversight Plan (IPOP).
- Promote and oversee the safety and well-being of the individuals’ we support through use of written, verbal procedures, safety equipment and awareness of any potential dangers.
- Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the people we support cannot independently accomplish.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings and committees as directed.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting regulations and HIPAA laws.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma. Some college coursework preferred.
- Prefer candidate demonstrate interest in a therapy field or human services field.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
