The Weekday Warrior position is required to work two regularly scheduled sixteen (16) hours shift during the weekday as designated by the program schedule. The Weekday Warrior is responsible to implement each individualized plan, attend to personal care needs, oversee the health, safety and well-being of the people we support, keep nurses advised, participate in Agency activities, transport and accompany people we support on activities and assist in daily housekeeping and other facility-related duties and maintain documentation.

Essential Responsibilities:
Activities include but are not limited to the following:
- Promote independence by implementing the Individual Program Plan (IPP) and/or the staff action plan.
- Promote and oversee the safety and well-being of the individuals’ we support through use of written, verbal procedures, safety equipment and awareness of any potential dangers.
- Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the people we support cannot independently accomplish.
- Keep the nursing team advised of medical and dietary concerns.
- Transport and accompany the people we support as required for appointments, community activities and serve as their advocate.
- Accompany people we support during medical emergencies, which may extend beyond scheduled shift/hours.
- Assist in the daily housekeeping duties, not limited to serving meals, cleaning wheelchairs, and laundry in conjunction with the people we support.
- Prepare meals that adhere to special dietary considerations.
- Provide assistance with basic tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming and eating.
- Assist people we support in the development of appropriate behavioral, social, money management, and hygiene skills necessary to reach their highest level of independence.
- Report house damage, complete work orders, and get fuel in Agency vehicles.
- Must be able to complete and maintain SCIP-R, First Aid, CPR certification and or other trainings required by OPWDD, and/or Agency policy.
- Must be able to attain and maintain AMAP certification if the position is an AMAP identified position.
- Provide AMAP coverage at Agency sites as directed based on the needs of the program and people in each program.
- Work in other Agency programs and/or areas as needed.
- This position may require irregular work hours at times. Shifts may vary depending on the needs of the people we support. Unanticipated circumstances may arise requiring the ability to work beyond schedule shift.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings and committees as directed.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting regulations and HIPAA laws.
- Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and Agency regulations and operating standards.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Up to 1 year of experience.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
- This position requires responsible and reliable individuals with good judgement.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel). Use of computer software for documentation is required.
- Travel and transport is required. Must have and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record obtained through LENS.
- This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities).
