We are a private, local, outpatient mental health practice in Albany, NY. We have a need for some limited permit mental health counselors to do some day time and evening counseling with our clients.

A bit about the position:

• In-person at our Wolf Road office
• 4 day work weeks (M-Th, 9am-6pm (ish))
• Weekly supervision provided
• Monthly group supervision

We operate with a quarterly billable hour quota, as opposed to a traditional weekly model. The two options are:

• 275 billable hours per quarter, or around 25 appointments per week
• 300 billable hours per quarter (higher base salary), or around 28 appointments per week

With all of the above options, we have flexible PTO, meaning as long as you meet your quarterly requirement and do all other tasks associated with the job, you can take time off when you want.

The quarterly quota is for billable hours, not counting cancellations/no-shows. Our practice averages an 87% attendance rate, so whatever numbers of sessions you need to do per week, you would need a few more than that on the calendar to account for those cancellations/no-shows. Example -- if you wanted to do 28 appointments per week, you would probably want about 32-33 on the calendar.

A few additional points about our full-time, salaried clinical positions:

• For our salary positions, there is no weekly minimum of billable hours or hours worked. This position has more freedom and flexibility, autonomy and independence. It therefore requires self-direction.
• If you go over your quarterly requirement, you can either A) subtract them for next quarter requirements, B) get a bonus ($50 per extra session) for extra sessions, or C) combine A and B

Some potential downsides to working at Upstate:

• The quarterly model/autonomy does not work for everyone. Some folks need more structure (although with teamwork we can create needed structure)
• Outpatient therapy isn’t always easy. Sometimes, after session number 27 of the week, we can be ready for the weekend!
• We don’t yet offer consistent CEU trainings. We are still a small business with a limited budget, but we are getting there!

• Takes the posture of confident student – knows what they know and does a good job at it, and also constantly wants to learn and grow.

• NYS MHC-LP
• Some counseling experience
• Professional and ethical
• Is ready to give and receive feedback
• Has 3 professional references (at least 1 supervisor)
