What are the responsibilities and job description for the Granite Polisher/Shop Assistant position at Upstate Granite & Marble?
We are currently looking for a Granite polisher. The Polisher is a key role within the Fabrication Group. This person is responsible to polish granite and quartz stone corners on counters that will be installed into customers’ homes or business. This person will also be required to help the shop foreman as needed with jobs such getting the CNC equipment ready for the next slab, organizing, and cleaning the facility.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
o Review the Cut Sheet/label and Shop Drawings prior to polishing.
o Read and follow all Install Job Notes for accuracy and follow details.
o Verify all components have been provided and are cut to correct size prior to polishing.
o Review and confirm the proper edge as identified for each component.
o Provide a defect free product.
o Advise Shop Foreman or Operations Manager of any missing and/or defective items.
o Assist installation crews and loading customers pick-up jobs, as needed.
o Adhere to and enforce all applicable Federal, state, local and OSHA regulations.
o Maintain an efficient, clean & organized work area.
o Follow all Company Policies and Procedures.
o Attend all required Company meetings as practical.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of 1 year experience in granite polishing or similar is preferred but not necessary. Outgoing and Positive Attitude, reliability to be on Time.
Physical requirements
Position will require the following on a regular basis: reaching, standing, walking, lifting in excess of 35 lbs., and repetitive motions with a polishing device.
Ability to work 40 hours a week.
Compensation:
As a Full time, Polisher employee, starting hourly pay is $19.00 per hour paid weekly. After 90 days, with a satisfactory evaluation, pay will be increased and company benefits will be available that includes paid vacation, holiday, medical and 3% contribution to 401k in accordance with the company policy found in the employee handbook. Any time after 8 working hours in a day will be time and a half.
Standard hours are:
7:00am to 3:30pm Monday Thru Friday for polishing
