Job Summary
The Arabic Interpreter Specialist will serve as a cultural advocate for Arabic families and patients and will interpret during medical discussions in the inpatient, outpatient and Emergency departments. Responsibilities will include assisting with population management of Arabic patients, assisting with scheduling in person interpreters for appointments, attending and interpreting for 3-4 medical appointments per day, and translating Upstate documents when needed. The Arabic Interpreter Specialist will also assist with office tasks when needed, including phone and email correspondence and paying invoices.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree and a minimum of three years of medical interpreting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Tested proficiency in Arabic and English fluency required. Final candidates may be subject to a proficiency test.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with translating documents and employee management preferred. Medical Terminology training preferred. Medical Interpreter professional training preferred.
Work Days
Monday-Friday, days with off shift hours based on operational needs.
