What are the responsibilities and job description for the Division Chief of Cardiology position at Upstate MEDICINE?
The Department of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking an experienced and committed physician leader to serve as the Divisional Chief of Cardiology at the regions largest employer and the only academic medical center in Central New York. Our mission is to improve the health of the communities through education, innovation, research and patient care. The division of Cardiology provides comprehensive inpatient (2 campuses) and outpatient care with state-of-the-art cardiac diagnostics and treatment. The selected candidate will have the capacity to implement and grow programs including advanced cardiac imaging, structural heart disease, high risk coronary interventions, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology interventions and more.
Position and Responsibilities:
The Division Chief of Cardiology will report to Dr. Cynthia Taub, the Department Chair of Medicine. The selected candidate will qualify for an academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor in an academic clinician educator track.
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The recruitment and retention of clinical and research faculty with primary appointment in the Division of Cardiology.
- Providing oversight in quality and safety initiatives, and leading clinical excellence.
- Developing and implementing training curriculum for medical students, residency and fellowship programs
- Providing effective mentoring, educational opportunities and professional development for faculty as well as ensuring the highest quality of communication amongst members of the division and within the Department of Medicine.
- Cultivating philanthropy
- Developing and ensuring the effective use of financial and physical resources within the division of Cardiology
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
- Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine with ongoing clinical and scholarly activities.
- Fellowship trained in Cardiology or an ACGME Accredited Subspecialty Fellowship.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State prior to the start of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in MBA, MPH, or MHA preferred.
