Upstate Orthopedics is Central New York’s most comprehensive orthopedic practice located at the Upstate Bone and Joint Center in East Syracuse, NY. We see patients of all ages with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. We offer sub-specialized orthopedic services unavailable elsewhere in Central New York. Patients come to our practice from 15 surrounding counties because of our top-rated orthopedic physicians. All of our surgeons have faculty appointments at SUNY Upstate Medical University, where they train orthopedic surgery residents and fellows. Position Summary: Provide Athletic Training Services to a local high school/college in coordination with physicians at Upstate Orthopedics.

Responsibilities:

-Available after school hours and weekends to provide care to student athletes during games and practices

- Provide home game coverage to assigned school.

-Travel with Varsity Football and other high risk sports to away games.

-Provide care in injury prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries, first aid, and emergency care.

-Documentation of Injuries/Illness via EMR

-Assist Athletic Director as needed/per their instruction

-Proper Referral to overseeing Physician

-Abide by standing orders with Physician and scope of practice in NYS

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training

-Must have BOC Athletic Trainer’s Certification by start date (new grads encouraged to apply)

-Must hold current CPR for Healthcare Professionals Certification

-Must have NYS Athletic Trainer’s License through the NYS Board of Education by start date
