What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Life Specialist (CLS) - Level 2 position at Upstate University Hospital?
Job Summary :
The Child Life Specialist providesdevelopmental and psychosocial support for pediatric patients and families in an out-patient surgery and ENT area. Assesses children's developmental and coping needs and provides preparation, age appropriate diversion and emotional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and / or medical encounters. Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Child Life. Must have completed a child life internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist. Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential required or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications :
Masters Degree preferred.
Work Days : Monday - Friday.
