What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Director position at Upstate University Hospital?
Job Summary :
The Medical Director is a core faculty member in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. The Medical Director must be a board-certified and New York State licensed physician who is knowledgeable in current-practice medical standards. Additionally, the Medical Director must understand the role of physician assistants in delivery of health care. Following the Standards established by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the Medical Director reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Primary responsibilities for this part-time position include the following :
- Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities and scope of practice for physician assistants
- Advocate for the program within the medical and academic communities
- Active participation in recruitment of clinical rotation sites throughout Upstate New York
- Support the Program Director to ensure that both didactic and clinical instruction meet current practice standards
