Job Summary
Strawser Construction has an opening for an energetic individual looking to complete aConstruction Management Internshipfor the summer of 2025. We are looking for a highly skilled individual that will be a great asset to our team. Strawser is part of a global construction leader, Colas, and is a great place to build a career!
As an intern, you will perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members. You will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
Through our internship, we hope to offer a rewarding experience for the candidate, which will help add real world experience to their resume, as well as provide a fresh outlook and feedback on our current practices and processes. To be a strong candidate for an internship, you should have an understanding of construction principles and concepts. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, eager to learn, and have a positive attitude.
Main Responsibilities
Shadowing the foreperson as they perform their duties
Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about operations
Work alongside laborers to understand the processes
General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving including mixing, spreading materials and cleaning roadway surfaces as needed
May be required to safely maintain traffic control including flagging duties
Work in a team-oriented environment
Perform other duties as assigned to assist the crew
Actively participate in the safety culture
Wear proper safety PPE anytime on the job
Qualifications and Requirements
Must be actively working towards a degree in Construction Management
60-75% travel required
Required to work varying hours, including nights / weekends, and overnight travel with overnight stays
Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Motivation and the strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
A valid Driver's license, and a clean driving record
