Position Responsibilities:

The Radiation Safety Technician (RST) is responsible for the measurement and documentation of radiation levels associated with plant and wellfield operations. To fulfill these responsibilities, the RST:

· Conducts routine radiation surveys and inspections of work areas, equipment, shipments, and personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

· Ensures all radiation monitoring equipment is calibrated and operating properly.

· Analyzes and interprets radiation exposure data and implements corrective actions as necessary to minimize radiation risks.

· Provides radiation safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors on safe work practices, radiation hazards, and emergency procedures.

· Maintains accurate records and documentation related to radiation monitoring, exposure assessments, and regulatory compliance activities.

· Participates in internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews of radiation safety programs and procedures as directed.

· Assists the RSO and Sr. RST with the development, review, approval, implementation and adherence to the Radiation Safety Program and associated standard operating procedures and quality assurance programs.

· Assists the RSO and Sr. RST with all compliance aspects of the Radioactive Materials License and applicable regulations.

Job Requirements:

· This salary-exempt position involves periodic work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· The ability to work in personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection is necessary.

· Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

· Applicants must be able to pass a medical pulmonary function test for respirator usage and must pass drug and alcohol testing as a prerequisite to employment.

· Must be able to recognize hazardous conditions, follow company safety policies and practices, and engage in a strong safety culture.

  • Basic computer skills using Excel and Microsoft Word are required. GIS mapping is a plus.

Qualifications: The position of Radiation Safety Technician shall have one of the following combinations of education, training, and experience as a minimum:

· Education: An associate degree or 2 years or more of study in the physical sciences, Engineering, or health-related field.

· Training: At least a total of 4 weeks of generalized training in radiation health protection applicable to uranium operations.

· Experience: Two years of relevant work experience in applied radiation protection. One year of work experience using sampling and analytical laboratory procedures that involve health physics, industrial hygiene, or industrial safety applicable to uranium mining/milling operations.

OR

· Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.

· Training: At least 3 months of specialized training (up to 1 month may be on-the-job training) in radiation health protection relevant to uranium recovery facilities.

· Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in applied radiation protection.
