JOB POSITION : Internal Medicine Assistant
Reports To : Back of House Manager
The Internal Medicine (IM) Assistant is the Internists primary medical support. They aid the Internist and technician in achieving greater efficiency by assisting with endoscopic procedures and relieving them of some administrative detail. They have a very significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets.

High school diploma or equivalent.2-3 years experience working in Vet MedGENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age of 18 years.Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.Detail oriented and willing to complete training and care of very sensitive endoscopy equipmentAbility to set scope of for proceduresComfortable disassembling and cleaning endoscopesAble to problem-solve or trouble-shoot potential problems with equipmentComfort with anesthesiaCan stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.Is well spoken and approaches their job duties in a mature nature.Has experience working in a team environment and works well with all levels of hospital team members.Has excellent client communication skills. IM clients can be very demanding, requiring understanding and empathy.Physical Effort : Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.Working conditions : May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.SPECIFIC DUTIES
Patient and Client Care
Assist in IM appointments and proceduresHelp admit and discharge patients according to hospital policyMonitor patient under anesthesiaPlacing IV catheters, giving premedsRecovering patients from anesthesiaPrepare accurate estimates for IM proceduresLearn how to care for endoscopy equipmentResponsible for daily cleaning and care of equipmentFor a relationship with ESS for handling any repairsIn addition to all above, may be asked to help on the floor as needed or when the IM schedule is light.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
A starting range is an hourly rate of $22 - $28, commensurate with individual qualifications for this position.
