As a Project Planning intern, you will learn from the project controls team on aspects of managing the planning & scheduling aspects of utility scale solar projects. This role works with project managers, site managers, project developers, EPC contractors and key vendors to develop, monitor and manage project schedules. The role involves coordinating and doing all planning & scheduling activities from conception to completion.

This is a paid internship that will start on or around June 2, 2025, with an end date of August 8, 2025.

During the 10-week program, interns will participate in virtual, company-wide and department meetings, virtual monthly Friday lunch & learn trainings and a culminating group presentation on your overall internship experience. The program is structured to provide exposure to careers in renewable energy, best practices in internal communications as part of a remote/ hybrid team and best of all, the opportunity to work and support a team of professionals who are experts in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to planning tools and concepts
  • Understand the workflow of project from conception to commissioning
  • Develop different levels of schedules – Level -1 to Level-3
  • Gain exposure and understanding of the project delivery discipline and how it operates
  • Collaborate with development managers and project managers and lead the development of project schedules, detailed appropriately depending on the stage gate of the project.
  • Baseline the schedule, measure progress and keep the schedule evergreen
  • Support project managers in maintaining critical path. Work with contractors in preparing / advising them on catch-up schedules.
  • Participate in progress review meetings with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Conduct probabilistic risk analysis of schedules to understand the critical path and key schedule drivers
  • Prepare schedule templates for different utilities, offtakers, and regions.
  • Intern will deliver final presentation during a lunch-and-learn in August showcasing what they learned during their internship and how they were able to leverage their academic experience to solve/revamp an issue/process.
  • Other duties assigned.

Location

This position will be in our Houston, TX Headquarters working a Hybrid 3 days a week in the office/ 2 days remote. Position will require a trip to one of the project sites VA.

Candidate to work full-time hours Monday - Friday during the summer duration of the internship.

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering or related field
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, flexible environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude and desire to learn business and financial principles, including budget, schedule, and resource management
  • Must have strong organizational capacity to simultaneously manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and be able to quickly adapt to changes and shift priorities to meet project needs and deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with and manage a wide range of stakeholders.

Interns will receive 24 hours of PTO, 2 paid holidays and a $60 monthly cell phone reimbursement during their internship.
