Job Description:
The Project Engineer will assist the project team with overall responsibility for all aspects of the construction project. The primary functions of this role include quantity verification and payment reconciliation, RFI and submittal correspondence, material delivery coordination, work plan creation and review, and schedule reviews and updates. The Project Engineer will be required to dedicate a significant amount of time to learning the day-to-day operations and processes associated with project sites; oftentimes this will require extended work hours beyond a standard work week. This role requires a strong sense of self-motivation, the ability to work in a dynamic work environment and a passion for working with others to achieve common goals.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop a strong team dynamic and positive work environment.
- Assist with task and work plan meetings.
- Responsible for providing insight and feedback for the financial performance of the project(s).
- Manage project-specific safety plan in addition to corporate safety plan.
- Observe adherence to project plans & specifications.
- Change order management creation.
- Adhere to quality and workmanship standards per contract specifications.
- Assist superintendents and crews with material ordering and quantity management.
- Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors for timely progression of work activities.
- Create and process: submittals and submittal logs, RFI’s material delivery log, etc.
- Basic knowledge of cost control
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Takes the initiative to engage with supervisor and teammates in training, learning processes and developing oneself.
Qualifications:
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task
- Conflict management & resolution
- Effective communication with all levels of project stakeholders
- Protects and promotes the best interest of the company; ensures all objectives and performance standards are met.
- Data entry skills and information processing
- Basic knowledge of scheduling software
- Ability to work independently
- Basic understanding of construction methods and materials
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or related field
- One to two years of work experience in the heavy highway construction industry is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
- Efficient in PDF Editing
- Must have a valid driver's license.
